‘Clock Tower’ Successor ‘NightCry’ Reaches Funding Goal

A week ago, I wasn’t sure if developer Nude Maker’s crowdfunding campaign for their point-and-click survival horror game NightCry would be another success story for the horror genre. Those worries were unnecessary, it seems, thanks to a massive surge of donations over the last few days that helped the Clock Tower spiritual successor raise an impressive $314,771.

NightCry is being made by Clock Tower creator Hifumi Kono and The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu, with creature designs by Pyramid Head creator Masahiro Ito. You can see an early build in action in the trailer below.

Great. I have only two questions:
    -Why point and click?
-Why main character is walking and running like on prosthetics, not legs?

    • NightCry is a follow-up to Clock Tower, a point-and-click horror game. It’s staying true to its roots. And remember, the game is still a work in progress. Wonky animations and/or graphical issues are to be expected.

        Time will tell…

Nice! Although I hope they do more with this. At this point it seems like a carbon copy of the Clocktower series…

    • Brodequin

Yeah. I also hope graphics will look better than ps2-like…

    I’m hyped

So that video just made me incredibly happy. I haven’t played video games in a long time but I will be one of the first people to pick this up upon its release. The original Clock Tower is still so vivid in my mind and no game ever made me scream out loud like that game did. My friends and I were obsessed. We even made our own Clock Tower movie. Lol. It was pretty bad, though.

That’s pretty awesome though, lol. My friends and I used to write Resident Evil stories as kids and share them, your movie can’t have been as bad as that 😛

I’m pretty happy this game is happening. The Kickstarter page seems to say it will be ready by December, if that’s true this year just keeps getting better and better for horror gaming.

So, the creator of Clock Tower, the designer of Pyramid Head (<3) and The Grudge's director.
Man, talk about a finely cooked dish. Can't wait!
