10 Horror Sequels I’d Like to See in 2015!

We’ve only just begun our descent into the new year and I’m already excited for it. If time were a roller coaster, this would be the bit that comes right after that incredibly slow climb to the top of a hill where the coaster has started its horrifying plunge back to Earth. Depending on who you are, that sudden drop can be the best part, or it can be the worst.

It’s a good thing that’s where the similarities between beginning a new year and riding a roller coaster end. I don’t imagine many of us will be literally losing our heads this year, but I can see a few of us losing them in the figurative sense should this list come true.

Now, before we get into my list of 10 Horror Game Sequels I’d Like to See in 2015, it’s worth mentioning that I don’t expect most of these games to release in 2015. With a few exceptions that I’ll be sure to point out when we get to them, if a game is on this list, that means I’d like to hear from it. That could be a trailer, some new info, a release window, whatever.

All right, let’s go!

Alan Wake 2

2015_AlanWake

I feel like there’s a very good chance that we’ll eventually see a sequel to Alan Wake, which, if you have yet to play it, is easily one of the last generation’s greatest and most underrated video games. It’s a great game with a fervent fan base and a developer that seems very interested in giving the game’s eponymous writer another go.

Established developers have struggled with crowdfunding their games, even if that project is a sequel to a universally beloved survival horror game.

If we hear from Mr. Wake this year, it’ll likely come in the form of another tease.

While it wasn’t necessarily horror, I’d love to get a sequel to Heavy Rain. I hate that Quantic Dream has expressed no interest in doing one. Was a fantastic story/game.

    • I’d definitely consider Heavy Rain to be of the horror persuasion, and I’d love to see it get a sequel. Unfortunately, you’re right. Quantic Dream seems to prefer their one-offs (Heavy Rain, Fahrenheit, Beyond: Two Souls, etc.)

I’d LOVE a new condemned game/reboot! Maybe one that focuses a little more on the forensics!

  • Personally, I’m looking forward to the new Fatal Frame, new Dementium (remastered), Project Scissors (which is a spiritual successor to the ClockTower series, same creator), and maybe the rumored ZombiU sequel that’s slated for later this year 2015.
I’ve put over 800 hours in Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam since its launch, and almost 500 on the first game. As a long-time L4D player, I don’t think we’ll be seeing a Left 4 Dead 3 this year. We will indeed see a first glimpse of the Source 2.0 engine in the form of a Dota 2 update though.

I feel sad now. The two games I’d like to see sequels to, Dead Space 4 and Alan Wake 2, seem like distant possibilities. I would also like to see FEAR and Resident Evil redeem their franchises, but I don’t have much faith that’ll happen anytime soon, not until some fresh eyes get ahold of those properties.

Siren, Condemned and F.E.A.R. comeback… But this is only a dream, my sweet dream hehe…

Although I loved Alan Wake, American Nightmare felt like a definitive ending. Possibly because they knew they couldn’t make another sequel. Shame though, because AM showed that you can have the character in different settings and be just as successful.

F.E.A.R, State of Decay, Left 4 Dead and Siren are probably my pick of the lot for sequel’s I’d love to see happen soon. You’re right when you say Siren is under appreciated.

  • There will be no Alan Wake anything this year and that makes me sad. Game sold very poorly and because of that any plans for an Alan Wake 2 was immediately shelved. The company is currently working on their Xbox One exclusive, Quantum Break. I suppose if that was to do even more poorly then Alan Wake did in sales then maybe Remedy would consider more Alan Wake.

Being a huge fan of the games, Remedy in general and everything I know about the company and the development and sales of Alan Wake, my guess is that we won’t be seeing anymore Alan Wake.

I don’t know. I haven’t been excited about anything in the past couple of years. http://www.supportourmovie.com

I just want to second Kevin, that there is no way there will be anything about Alan Wake this year. Quantum Break is not out yet, is a huge game, and seems to have an ‘evolving’ element to it for cross media tie-ins and the associated tv show. It’s just not going to happen. 2017, we might get a very vague teaser for an Alan Wake 2 in 2019. I honestly think there will not be an Alan Wake 2. While I loved the mechanics and atmosphere, the story is kinda bland and silly, kinda feels its been delved as deep as it can, did not perform commercially as well as the studio would have liked. Instead maybe we will get a mechanically and atmospherically spiritual successor, with a different cast and premise teased in 2017 for 2019? I think that’s the most that can be hoped for on that front.

generally a good list but I’m disappointed you didn’t mention another Condemned, my all-time favourite horror series. I don’t think it will ever happen but I can dream

    • Brodequin

      I dream of it too…

  • Ben_Jammin

Telltale’s Walking Dead Season 3, which there’s a chance we will see this year, but the sooner, the better, you know.

  • Rick-Taylor

Sequel to Splatterhouse would be awesome, although that’s not happening.

  • Megaonan

Fear 4, Alan Wake, Condemned 3… doubt we will see them any time soon though. Shame.

  • Victor

    Resident Evil 7
    Clock Tower 4
    The Last Of Us 2
    Dead Space 4
    Silent Hills
    The Evil Within 2

    I gotta be honest here
This is such a generic normal list that anyone can list on the internet , next time be more creative when it comes to lists since most of the games you list are stereotype games and highly expected to has sequels , Watch and LEARN from these horror gems :

    Parasite Eve
    Dino Crisis
    Haunting Ground
    Clock Tower
    Rule of Rose

  • Master99

What, no Dead Rising 4, No Evil Within 2, and no Silent Hills?
